On the morning of March 19, the first session of the 2026 “Nandu Music Forum” was held at the Middle Campus Concert Hall by the School of Music of Nanyang Normal University. Professor Ren Fangbing, a Doctoral Supervisor at the China Conservatory of Music, was invited to deliver an academic lecture titled Some Reflections on Related Music Research for faculty and students. All faculty members, all postgraduate students, and some undergraduate students of the School of Music attended the lecture.

In his lecture, Professor Ren Fangbing began with his own research experience and provided an explanation that combined theoretical depth with practical guidance, focusing on four aspects: writing standards for music academic papers, writing materials and conceptual issues, precautions for academic research, and recent hot topics.

After the lecture, Professor Ren Fangbing held a symposium on discipline construction with faculty of the School of Music, exchanging views on discipline and specialty construction, research work, and talent cultivation. He answered practical questions raised by faculty regarding teaching and research.

This academic lecture and discipline construction symposium not only provided valuable research guidance and ideas for faculty and students of the School of Music but also offered inspiration in academic methods, research horizons, and scholarly spirit, which is of positive significance for deepening the university’s research level and strengthening discipline construction.
