On April 22, opening ceremony of the first International Symposium on Sinology was held in the Concert Hall of Nanyang Normal University, at which over 90 specialists and scholars were present.
Huang Rongjie, Secretary of the Party Committee at NYNU, presided over the opening ceremony.
Wang Liya, President of NYNU, delivered welcoming remarks.
Liu Shuhua, Deputy Mayor of Nanyang City, made a speech.
Liu Bin, former Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education, addressed the audience.
Tang Zuofan, Professor at Peking University, delivered a speech.
Liu Jiansheng, Inspector of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, addressed the audience.
Jeremy Smith, Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities, University of Wales, made a speech.
Nan Jingxuan, Director of the International Office at Kyonggi University, addressed the meeting.
Li Tianfu, Professor at Taiwan Fu Jen Catholic University, made a speech.
Jeremy Smith presented a gift to NYNU.
Nie Zhentao presented a calligraphy work to Tang Zuofan.
Experts and guests visited the Museum of Nanyang Normal University.

The Symposium is supposed to offer NYNU an opportunity to enhance cultural construction on campus, strengthen international cooperation and exchange, promote popularization and research of sinology and carry forward traditional culture of China.
