In order to promote Chinese language learning and cultural exchanges among international students in Henan Province, enhance their in-depth understanding of Henan Province and Chinese civilization, and further promote the international dissemination of Chinese language and culture, the first “Charming Chinese, ‘Yu’ Goes with You” Chinese Speech Contest was held in Zhengzhou Sias University from May 31st to June 1st, sponsored by the Department of Education of Henan Province. 

The competition included topic speeches, live Q&A and Chinese talent demonstration. After a fierce competition, ASHIR (Li Xin), a graduate student majoring in international business, won the best language expression award and the third prize, and DIABATE ABOUBAKAR (Li Qiang), majoring in business administration, won the third prize, and our university won the excellent organization award.

It is reported that the competition has three stages: preliminary, preliminaries and finals. The preliminary round was organized by the institutions themselves, and 770 international students from 59 countries from 29 institutions in the province participated in the competition enthusiastically. A total of 69 international students from 29 colleges and universities, including Zhengzhou University and Nanyang Normal University, were selected as finalists in the preliminaries. They talked about their understanding of the theme of “Charming Chinese, ‘Yu’ Goes with You” in Chinese and interpreted their understanding and love of Chinese culture through singing, dancing, opera and other performances.
