On May 23, invited by the Nanyang Party Committee and the municipal government , President Zhang Baofeng met a delegation from the Italian municipality of Asti, headed by M ayor Raseo Maurizio, at the Nanyang Hotel. The meeting aimed at promot ing the cooperation between NYNU and the city of Asti to build a Chinese Language Cooperation Center. Zhu Xixi, S ecretary of the Nanyang Municipal Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Associated leaders from Nanyang City and the I nternational O ffice of NYNU were present.


Zhang Baofeng noted that China and Italy are outstanding representatives of Eastern and Western civilizations, and the friendly exchanges between the two great civilizations have a long history and have been renewed.

Zhang Baofeng introduced the general picture of NYNU and the major of Chinese Language International Education. He said that our university had the willingness and strength to cooperate with Asti City to build a Chinese Language cooperation center, further deepen the mutual understanding between Nanyang City and Asti City, enhance the friendship between the two sides, and make new contributions to the cultural exchanges and mutual learning of civilizations between the East and the West.

Raseo Maurizio expressed his full approval and support for the joint construction of the Chinese Language Cooperation Center. He praised the deep friendship between Italy and China, which had fostered the common concepts of mutual respect, mutual learning, mutual trust and mutual understanding. He said that the Asti city would actively promote the establishment of a Chinese language cooperation center in cooperation with NYNU, and provide convenience for its implementation in Asti.

Bai Hongchao, Deputy Mayor of Nanyang, said that the city government would vigorously support and actively promote NYNU and Asti to build a Chinese language cooperation center.

The city of Asti, located in the northwest of Italy, 45 kilometers from Turin, is a distribution center of agricultural products and rich in wine. Its main industry includes silk weaving, machinery, chemistry, sulfur smelting, and food.
