On the morning of February 22, invited by School of Jewelry and Jade Carving, Professor Zhang Shuxin, doctoral supervisor of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, delivered an academic lecture titled On the Inner and Outer Space in Traditional Chinese Culture for the teachers and students of our school in the lecture hall on the first floor of the West District Library. Hua Xuan, vice dean of the School of Jewelry and Jade Carving, presided over the lecture.

In the lecture, Professor Zhang Shuxin combined the Chinese and Western art cases and personal creating experience, compared the concepts of style, space, aesthetic between the traditional Chinese statue and western modern sculpture, and explained the artistic principles in artistic creation of internal force and external force, inner space and outer space, vivid charm, nature and man, emotional expression and so on. It has deeply influenced the teachers and students and enhanced their confidence in the excellent traditional Chinese culture.

Professor Zhang Shuxin’s lecture contains unique insights and profound implications. While advancing the traditional Chinese culture, it also further broadens the vision and thinking of the teachers and the students of the School of Jewelry and Jade Carving, and explores a new path for realizing the contemporary transformation of the spirit of Chinese traditional culture.
