On the afternoon of October 9, the symposium for international teachers and students of Nanyang Normal University was held in the East Conference Room on the first floor of Office Building in order to strengthen the communication between Chinese and international teachers and students and enhance the level of administration and service in the process of internationalization. The university president Zhang Baofeng and vice president Liu Honglin attend the symposium, together with heads of relevant departments, eight international teachers, eighteen international student representatives, and the faculty from International Office. The symposium was hosted by Cao Luman, director of International Office.
In the opening speech, Mr. Liu Honglin first expressed his warm welcome for international teachers and students to work and study at Nanyang Normal University, and also gratitude for their positive contributions to the university. Then he introduced the development of NYNU in recent years. He said that the number of international teachers and students this year have increased, the quality has greatly improved, and the level of internationalization of NYNU has entered into a new stage. The purpose of holding the symposium is that everyone may give advice for the university development, and put forward constructive suggestions on teaching, administration and services.
International teachers and students took their turns speaking. They fully appreciated the teaching, administrative and service level of NYNU and felt that both work and study at NYNU is very enjoyable and pleasant. In the meantime, some suggestions were put forward on teaching management, teaching facilities, environment and conditions for teaching and living.
Mr. Zhang Baofeng welcomed and appreciated the suggestions made by international teachers and students, and made positive responses in four aspects. Firstly, the university was grateful to international teachers and students for their positive contributions. In 2022, NYNU was selected by the Education Department of Henan Province to be constructed as one of the “universities with international characteristics in Henan Province” and everyone deserved the credit. Secondly, all the teachers and students were expected to work together to help complete the “Fourteenth Five-Year Plan” of the university, focusing on achieving two goals of renaming the university and obtaining the authorization of doctoral programs. Thirdly, Mr. Zhang gave his wishes to the international teachers and students for smooth work, pleasant life and good health during their stay at NYNU. Fourthly, Mr. Zhang said that all the advice and suggestions put forward by international teachers and students would be seriously handled, problems involved would be solved as soon as possible, and a better working and living environment would be provided for everyone.
This symposium aimed at deepening the comprehensive understanding of the university by international teachers and students and broadening the communication channels between international teachers and students and the university. International teachers and students also expressed that they would abide by the rules and regulations on teaching, administration and services, and would work and study hard to make contributions to the development of the university.
