[Lecture] Precision Synthesis of Polymers

Speaker: Prof. He Junpo (Fudan University)

Date: October 30, 2024(Wednesday)

Time: 9:00 a.m.

Venue: Conference Room, the 2nd Floor of the East District Office Building

Report Content: This report will introduce various living polymerization methods and their applications in the precision synthesis of polymers. It will also present the control strategies for polymer chain structure factors, including molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, chemical composition, topological structure, sequence structure, etc., and illustrate the scientific significance and application value of polymer precision synthesis with examples. The report mainly covers the following seven aspects: 1. What polymers and polymer chain structure information are; 2. Types and principles of living polymerization; 3. Control of polymer chain length and its distribution; 4. Synthesis of block copolymers; 5. Synthesis of hyperbranched and dendrimer polymers; 6. Synthesis of precise sequence polymers; 7. One or two application examples of precisely structured polymers.

Introduction to the Speaker: He Junpo, Ph.D. supervisor, obtained his bachelors degree from the Department of Chemistry at Henan University in 1990, his masters degree from the Department of Materials Science at Fudan University in 1993, and his doctors degree from the Department of Polymer Science at Fudan University in 1999. Over the years, he has conducted in-depth theoretical and experimental research on the mechanism and kinetics of controlled living polymerization and developed practical routes for the design of polymer chain structure and topological structure through living polymerization methods. He has published more than 80 papers and applied for more than 10 patents.
