On the afternoon of October 19, Professor Zhang Jianwei from the School of Law of Tsinghua University was invited to give an academic report titled The Compass of Justice: Criminal Procedure Jurisprudence and Its Practical Applications in the Central Area Studio. Zhao Yixin, the vice dean of the School of Law, presided over the event. Teachers of the School of Law, all postgraduate and undergraduate students majoring in law attended the report.

Professor Zhang Jianwei systematically explained criminal procedure jurisprudence from three aspects: the fundamental part, the practical part, and the part of suggestions. Through the analysis of 12 examples such as Whether a withdrawn prosecution can be re-decided as a non-prosecution, he demonstrated the specific applications of criminal procedure jurisprudence in practice. He pointed out the common problems in criminal litigation practice, like emphasizing substance over procedure and focusing more on legal provisions than jurisprudence. Moreover, he put forward suggestions from the perspectives of academic research, practical application, and legal education.

After the report, Professor Zhang Jianwei visited the School of Law. He had a discussion and exchange with the teachers on issues related to the application for National Social Science Foundation projects. Based on his own academic experience, Professor Zhang Jianwei proposed a series of suggestions for the application of National Social Science Foundation projects and the discipline construction of the School of Law.
