On the morning of June 20th, Professor Zhou Fan, a doctoral supervisor of Beijing Normal University, was invited to give an academic report to the teachers and students of our school in Room S305, Yifu Building, Central District. The Party Secretary of NYNU, Zhang Baofeng, presided over the report meeting, and the President of the University, Luo Yongsong, attended the report meeting. Teachers and students from the School of Marxism listened to the report on site.

Professor Zhou Fan, with the title The Concept of Justice in the West ---- From Homer to Marx, started from the oracle bone script of China, and by comparing the concepts of justice in the East and West, he explained the historical evolution of the concept of justice and the cultural origins of the formation of Marxs view of justice in a profound yet accessible way. Professor Zhou Fan believes that justice (Justice) is a concept that typically appears in the cultural context of the West, with different understandings of justice from the Homeric epics to German classical philosophy. Marx transcended previous theories of justice by criticizing the internal contradictions of the capitalist mode of production, thereby achieving the construction of historical materialism.

Zhang Baofeng summarized the report. He pointed out that Professor Zhous report is comprehensive and well-researched, with unique insights. It not only analyzes the concept of traditional Chinese justice but also interprets Western ideas of justice, which is very helpful for broadening the academic horizons of the teachers and students at the School of Marxism. He encouraged the teachers and students present to draw inspiration from Professor Zhous report, to delve into the ideological origins and historical context of Marxism, to strengthen their belief in Marxism, to read the original works earnestly, to study the original texts, to comprehend the principles, and to continuously improve their theoretical literacy and research level in Marxism.
