On the morning of October 9, the opening ceremony of the 2023 freshmen at Nanyang Normal University took place in the Central District Stadium. In attendance were university Party Secretary Lu Zhiwen, President Zhang Baofeng, Vice President Meng Jingya, and other university leaders. Heads from all schools and departments, along with nearly 10,000 freshmen, participated in the event. Vice President Zhou Qi presided over the ceremony.

The opening ceremony commenced at 9 a.m. with the solemn national anthem.

Li Qin, representing the undergraduate freshmen from the School of Literature, Shi Ke, representing the graduate freshmen from the School of Literature, and Chen Xianglong, representing the 2021 undergraduate students from the School of Life Science and Agricultural Engineering, shared their valuable learning experiences, perceptions and suggestions on campus life, as well as their hopes and aspirations for the future.

Professor Gong Shixue, as a teacher representative, expressed in his speech wholehearted dedication to teaching and nurturing students while presenting several expectations for the freshmen to fully leverage their youthfulness.

President Zhang Baofeng warmly congratulated and welcomed the new students of Grade 2023, emphasizing that in recent years, the university has consistently pursued a path of development characterized by depth and uniqueness, resulting in a remarkable momentum for career advancement. The university is fully committed to providing an exceptional platform for everyone’s growth and nurturing talent effectively. Zhang Baofeng expressed his expectations for the freshmen: firstly, they should embrace lofty aspirations and dedicate themselves to serving our motherland as an eternal life goal; secondly, they should diligently study and work hard as it forms a solid foundation for achieving success; thirdly, they must continuously drive youth through reform and innovation; fourthly, they should strengthen their determination as it serves as the bedrock of life; finally, regular exercise should be embraced as a personal conscious habit to prioritize physical fitness.

Finally, Zhang Baofeng aspired for everyone to establish a profound ambition, exemplify exceptional virtue, cultivate extraordinary talent, shoulder significant responsibilities, continuously advance on the path of knowledge acquisition, strive relentlessly towards becoming accomplished individuals and allow the brilliance of youth to flourish in unwavering dedication towards our motherland, nation, people and humanity.
