On February 28, Nanyang Normal University opened its first overseas alumni association at Kyonggi University in South Korea. Lee Lungyu, President of Kyonggi University, Xia Bangen, Kim Minna, and Fang Enying of International Exchange Center, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Xie Bingsong, relevant leaders of the Alumni Work Office, the International Office, the School of Journalism and Communication, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering attended the ceremony. Representatives of South Korean alumni attended the ceremony, and some teachers and students who have studied and worked in South Korea participated online.

Fu Zhongxin, director of the Alumni Work Office, presented the preparations of the Korean Alumni Association of Nanyang Normal University and presented a list of suggested organizations. The first organization of “Korean Alumni Association of Nanyang Normal University” was elected at the meeting. Zhang Yu, a 2007 graduate in visual communications and a PhD graduate in industrial design from Kyonggi University, was named the first president of NYNU’s Korean Alumni Association. Zhang introduced the Korea alumni in general, shared their learning and growth in Korea, expressed his gratitude to NYNU, and elaborated on the future work plans of the alumni association.

Xie presented Zhang with the flag of the Korean Alumni Association, expressed his sincere congratulations on the establishment of the association, and thanked leaders at various levels of Kyonggi University and the friendly people of South Korea. He introduced the achievements of the university in recent years and the 14th Five-Year Plan with “six cards”, encouraged the alumni to continue to pass on the friendship between China and South Korea, spread the excellent culture, and continue to make new contributions to the cooperation and exchanges between the two countries.

The establishment of the Korean Alumni Association has set up a platform for full communication and contact between the alumni who have studied, worked or started businesses in South Korea and the alumni and the Alma mater, which marks that the alumni work of NYNU has officially gone overseas, and reflects the remarkable results of NYNU’s international cooperation.
