On November 18th and 19th, Zhang Baofeng, the Party Secretary of Nanyang Normal University, met with Maurizio Rasero, the governor of Italy’s Asti Province and mayor of Asti City in Kunming, Yunnan Province. Both sides had in-depth and friendly exchanges on promoting Sino-foreign language exchange cooperation, international skill talent cultivation, and mutual learning of Chinese-Italian cultural exchanges. The heads of the Party Committee Office and the International Office attended the meeting.
Zhang Baofeng welcomed Maurizio Rasero, and reviewed the history of friendly exchanges between NYNU and the city of Asti. Both sides reached preliminary cooperation intentions on language and cultural exchanges, international talent cultivation, and scientific and technological innovation cooperation, and signed the memorandum. He pointed out that the construction of a “Chinese Workshop” in the city of Asti will be beneficial to cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and Italy, and is of great significance for promoting economic development, benefiting the people of both countries, and enhancing friendship. He believes that carrying out Chinese and foreign language exchange cooperation with the city of Asti will strongly promote the construction of the university’s international characteristics and provide necessary intellectual support for the construction of Nanyang City as a provincial sub-center city. Zhang Baofeng also communicated with Maurizio Rasero about the guidance of the Ministry of Education’s Chinese and Foreign Language Exchange Cooperation Center on the establishment of the “Chinese Workshop” and invited him to visit Nanyang Normal University.
Maurizio Rasero thanked Zhang Baofeng for the invitation, expressing that the exchange between Asti City and Nanyang Normal University is smooth and fruitful. He looked forward to both sides promoting the “Chinese Workshop” based on mutual understanding and trust, and close communication, to jointly promote all-round and multi-field cultural exchanges and cooperation, and contribute to the steady progress of Sino-Italian relations.
It is reported that NYNU was invited by the CPC Nanyang Municipal Committee and the People’s Government of Nanyang to participate in the 2024 China International Friendship Cities Conference. With the theme of “Share, Win-Win, and Create the Future Together”, the conference was attended by more than 700 representatives from over 40 countries, over 60 provinces and states, over 120 cities, and more than 60 local government organizations and friendship organizations.
