Henan Provincial Laboratory for Natural Disaster
Remote Sensing Monitoring was founded in 1998, formerly known as GIS and remote
sensing experiment teaching center. Nanyang Normal University built the remote
sensing mapping, geographic information system with an investment of more than
800,000 RMB. In 2005, in order to meet the needs of GIS specialty, the
university built the surveying and mapping engineering laboratory with an
investment of more than 600, 000 RMB. In 2007, in order to promote teaching and
high-level scientific research, the university invested more than one million
RMB to establish the remote sensing application and disaster research
laboratory and purchased the satellite ground receiving station. In December
2009, the lab was examined by the experts sent by the Technology Bureau of
Nanyang and approved as Nanyang Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing for Disaster
Reduction. Then it became the provincial key laboratory cultivation base of the
Education Department of Henan Province and was renamed as Henan Provincial Key
Laboratory for Natural Disaster Remote Sensing Monitoring in 2012.
The lab has sixteen members, 87.5% of whom are
masters, 34.5% professors or associate professors, and 87.5% under forty five.
In the past five years, the members have published over one hundred articles
with over ten in core journals or indexes, more than ten textbooks, and
