School of Economics and Management

About us:

   School of Economics and Management(SEM) was established in 2002. Since its foundation, SEM has achieved much and attracted more members to join the faculty. The school offers four undergraduate programs: International Economics and Trade, Business Administration, Financial Management, and Logistics Management. More than 2000 students are learning here and they come from twenty seven provinces of the country.

The forty faculty members include sixteen professors and associate professors, eight specially-appointed professors. There are fourteen PhD teachers, and twenty two hold  Master’s Degrees, which occupies 99.3 % of the faculty (Four teachers are overseas returnees). Four teachers are Qualified Registered Senior Consultants, three own the National Vocational Training and Qualifications, and three are Enterprise Resource Planning Management Consultants. Many teachers also hold different social duties.

SEM owns an electronic training center with an investment of over five million RMB(including twelve specialized laboratories), twelve off-campus practice bases, six enterprise scholarships, two research institutes, and several research centers.

   Adhering to the university spirits of being profound, dignified, and farsighted, the school regards teaching and researching as teachers’ main tasks. Therefore the school has paid much attention to course setting, teachers’ quality promotion, teaching management, and external experts’ lectures. Thus it has obtained many honors from the university. In recent years, the faculty has significant achievements in scientific research: having published more than 200 articles, held or participated five national, twenty provincial and ten prefectural research projects.

   The school holds to the university motto of achieving erudition, seeking truth, self-strengthening. It implements open teaching and fosters interdisciplinary talent in both economics and management.

Teaching:

Introduction to undergraduate programs:

1. Bachelor in International Economics and Trade (the distinguishing specialty of Henan Province)

This program aims to help students grasp basic theories, knowledge and skills, rules and conventions of international economics and trade, and also be able to deal with economic and trade business through special English and computers. After graduation, students will be competently engaged in actual practice and management in foreign economics and trade departments, foreign enterprises, governmental foreign economics and trade administration departments.

  Duration: four-year program

   Credits: a minimum of 165 credits is required.

   Degree awarded: Bachelor of Economics

Core courses: Political Economics, Western Economics, International Economics, Econometrics, the World Economy, International Trade: Theory and Practice, International Settlement, Moneytary Banking, Cameralistics, Principles of Accounting, Statistics.

2. Bachelor in Business Administration

This program aims to help students master knowledge and abilities in management, economics, law and business management, and be able to manage, teach, or do research in enterprises or government departments.

  Duration: four-year program

   Credits: a minimum of 165 credits is required.

   Degree awarded: Bachelor of Management

Core courses: Management, Political Economics, Western Economics, Accounting, Financial Management, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Strategy Management, Production Operation Management, Management Information Systems, Statistics, Operation Research, E-commerce.

   3. Bchelor in Logistics Management (having two experimental classes: Sichuan Haidilao Logistics Management and Dongfeng Fengshen)

   This program aims to help students grasp basic logistics knowledge, theories, and skills in transportation and delivery business, and be able to work in logistics management.

   Duration: four-year program

   Credits: a minimum of 164 credits is required.

   Degree awarded: Bachelor of Management

   Core courses: Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics System Analysis and Design, Logistics Engineering, Logistics Information System, International Logistics, Warehousing Management, Transportation Management, Purchasing Management.

4. Bachelor in Financial Management

   This program aims to help students adapt to needs of the modern market economy, master knowledge and abilities in management, economics, law and financial management, and do financial management, teaching, or researching work in profit organizations or non-profit organizations.

   Duration: four-year program

   Credits: a minimum of 165 credits is required.

   Degree awarded: Bachelor of Management

Core courses: Management, Western Economics, Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Management, Auditing, Financial Analysis, Investment Principles, Financial Market, Capital Rating.

Faculty

   School of Economics and Management has forty faculty members, including sixteen professors and associate professors, eight specially-appointed professors. Many teachers also hold different social duties. Professor Zhao Xiuling is the Excellent Expert of Henan Province, the Tip-top talent of Nanyang City. She has been a master supervisor in Economics of Henan University and in Social Security of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. She also has many social duties and is influential in the economics field in and outside the Province.
