About us:

Mathematics possesses nor only truth, but supreme beauty. It can stimulate the most extensive imagination and the deepest insight of human. Mathematics is the foundation of all sciences as it provides the universal language and tools to study and analyze different disciplines The Department of Mathematical Sciences is a unit of national first-level key discipline. The Department has two majors, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics.

1.Faculty:

At present, the Department has a faculty of forty four, including six professors, nine associate professors, and twenty-three lectures.  All faculty members are committed to excellence in teaching and research. Our graduates are highly received by the local communities with many recognized as outstanding teachers , both in Nanyang and other areas.

Professors: Yinong He, Yang Wang, Xiaoli Wang, Shiqin Zhang, Hongshen Zhang, Shunqin Wang

Associate Professors: Shunyun Ma, Yunping Yang, Xueqiang Wang, Feng Wang, Qing Chen, Bing Tan, Yongju Yang,  Mengxia Hua, Ting Wang

Achievements

From 2013-2015, the Mathematical Department won 5 second national prize, 11 first prize, 19 second prize, 42third prize at the provincial level.

Research: Over the years, our faculty’s relentless quest for innovative knowledge has got many rewards and recognition. In the past three years, they have published over 200 papers and attended over five national research projects..

2.Academic Advice:

If people do not believe that mathematics is simple, it is only because they do not realize how complicated life is .John von Neumann
