About us
School of Arts and Design is one of the earliest art departments among Henan universities. Now the school has 47 full-time teachers, of whom 12 are professors or associate professors, 1 has a doctoral degree, and the rest all have master degrees. At present there are 1506 undergraduate students. The school offers three four-year programs including Fine Arts (Oil Painting, Chinese Painting and Industrial Arts), Environment Design and Visual Communication Design.
To comply with regional economic and cultural industrialization and strengthen production-teaching-research combination, the school has established a calligraphy institute, an environment art center, a creative design center, a juvenile art education center and a pyrography art studio. Meanwhile, the school gives full play to its professional advantages to strengthen university-enterprise cooperation, undertake cooperative programs so to improve the level of running the school and promote the transformation and development of it. So far, the school has established a sculpture practice base in Nanyang Weida Sculpture Arts and Craft Co., Ltd., an environment art design practice base in Nanyang Gangwan Decoration Company and 29 stable practice bases out of the University to meet the need of undergraduates’ professional practice.
In recent years, over 30 items of creative art designs by teachers of the school have been selected by the national major academic exhibitions and 90 items of works have won awards in some provincial major academic exhibitions. More than 280 items of works designed by students have won awards in a variety of art exhibitions and national university student advertising art design contests. In 2014, especially, the school got good grades in major assessment among art colleges in Henan.
Admissions
Undergraduate Programs
1. Bachelor in Fine Arts
This program aims to help students master basic knowledge in Fine Arts theories, develop their spirit of innovation, make them have strong learning ability and social adaptability and prepare them to become perspective teachers for middle schools, art creative professional, high-level talents in the theory of art history, art teaching and research, Wenbo management and news publishing .
Duration: four-year program
Credits: A minimum of 165 credits is required.
Degree awarded: Bachelor of Arts

2. Bachelor in Environment Design
This program aims to help students develop their esthetic consciousness, creative theories and techniques of art design, make them have strong learning ability and social adaptability and prepare them to become professionals in urban construction planning, computer art design, indoor and outdoor environmental art design, visual communication design, decorating art design, corporate image design, advertisement design, package design, art display design, TV & Film advertisement and digital medium design.
Duration: four-year program
Credits: A minimum of 165 credits is required.
Degree awarded: Bachelor of Arts

This program aims to help students master basic knowledge and theories in Visual Communication Design, develop their spirit of innovation, make them have strong learning ability and social adaptability and prepare them to become professionals in high-level corporate image design, display design, package design, video cartoon and multimedia art, market promotion plan, advertisement design.
Duration: four-year program
Credits: A minimum of 165 credits is required.
Degree awarded: Bachelor of Arts
