On the afternoon of July 5th, at the invitation of the School of Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering, Researcher Ge Guangbo, Executive Deputy Dean of the Interdisciplinary Research Institute of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, gave an academic report titled Artificial Intelligence Technology Aids in the Efficient Analysis of Chinese Medicinal Substances. The report was presided over by Hui Ming, the Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering, and some faculty and students of the school attended the meeting.

Researcher Ge Guangbo first introduced the significance and challenges of efficiently analyzing the active substances in traditional Chinese medicine, and then pointed out that with the development of technologies such as artificial intelligence, researchers have been greatly facilitated in efficiently discovering the effective substances from complex herbal medicines. Next, by combining specific research cases, he focused on sharing how to efficiently discover small molecules with specific effects from herbal medicines, and how to use bio-medical big data to analyze the key targets and pharmacological mechanisms of the active components of traditional Chinese medicine. After the lecture, Researcher Ge Guangbo provided professional answers to the academic questions raised by teachers and students.

Researcher Ge Guangbos report has increased the understanding of our faculty about the cutting-edge advancements in artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and other technologies in the field of traditional Chinese medicine, which has greatly benefited the teachers and laid a solid foundation for further in-depth scientific research cooperation. As the hometown of the Medical Sage, Nanyang has abundant resources of Chinese medicinal herbs. So the School of Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering will combine artificial intelligence technology to fully leverage the regional advantages in the development and extraction of Chinese medicinal herbs, transform regional characteristics into scientific research advantages, expand the field of scientific research, and strengthen the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
