Introduction to the Speaker: Liu Gangjun, PhD, served at the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Victoria, Australia from 1994 to 2002, and has been teaching at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University(RMIT University) since 2002. He has long been dedicated to research, teaching, and graduate training in the principles, technologies, and applications of geospatial science. He developed the first high-resolution Digital Elevation Model (DEM, which stands for Digital Elevation Model) of Victoria and a series of related applications. He has led a series of research projects funded by the Australian federal and Victorian governments, focusing on the application of geographic information technology in disaster prevention and mitigation, environmental and ecological assessment, and social equity research.
