Speaker: Dr. Xie Huafei (Central China Normal University)
Date: March 31, 2023
Time: 14:30-16:00
Venue: Lecture Hall, 1st Floor, Western Library
Abstract: The report mainly introduces the brachistochrone problem, which was first proposed by the Italian scientist Galileo in 1630. In the 17th century, the mathematicians, Johann Bernoulli, Newton, Leibniz, Jacob Bernoulli, etc., got the correct answer. And then Euler and Lagrange’s development research established the general method of finding the extremum of integrals, which is the variational method.
Introduction to the speaker: Dr. Xie Huafei graduated from Beijing Normal University majoring in basic mathematics. Currently, he is a postdoctoral fellow at Central China Normal University. His research interests include nonlinear analysis, partial differential equations nonlinear analysis and partial differential equations, mainly using the variational method, the finite dimension reduction method and Pohozaev identity combined with blasting analysis method of elliptic equation solution existence and related properties. He has published eight papers in SCI journals so far.
