On the afternoon of December 28, at the invitation of both the Alumni Office and the School of Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering, researcher Zheng Wenzhao of the University of California, Berkeley, delivered an academic report titled Autonomous Driving in the Era of Large Models in the lecture hall on the first floor of the West District Library for the faculty and students. The report was chaired by Hui Ming, Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering. Attendees included Zheng Huaibing, an alumnus of the School of Chinese Language and Literature from the class of 1989(a poet and entrepreneur), Liu Xiaoyun, an alumnus of the School of History from the class of 1989(the principal of Nanyang No. 12 Middle School), Mei Chao, Head of the Alumni Office (Education Foundation), teacher representatives, some graduates and undergraduate students.
Dr. Zheng Wenzhao discussed the important application prospect of autonomous driving, as a hot field of artificial intelligence and unmanned system research, in industry, agriculture, transportation and services. The report reviewed the historical development of autonomous driving technology and visual perception, detailing the primary advancements achieved in the field of autonomous driving visual perception in recent years. Additionally, Dr. Zheng introduced a series of large driving models proposed by his team. These models not only provide critical technical support for the realization of safe and efficient autonomous driving systems but also present new opportunities for promoting the widespread application of autonomous driving technology across diverse sectors. Following the report, Dr. Zheng addressed questions raised by the attending faculty and students, fostering active interaction on-site and creating a vibrant academic atmosphere.
Dr. Zheng Wenzhao’s report closely aligned with the current frontiers of industry-academia collaboration and innovative trends, and his insights greatly inspired the faculty and students in attendance. This academic exchange not only broadens the academic horizons of our faculty and students but also enhances their research interests and capabilities. Moving forward, the School will continue to strengthen cooperation and exchange with renowned universities and research institutions both domestically and internationally, providing more academic resources for faculty and students, further enhancing the construction of the School’s research teams and platforms, and promoting the output and transformation of high-level scientific research results.
