On the morning of February 23, Professor Hu Shixiong at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, at the invitation of the School of Environmental Science and Tourism, NYNU, gave a lecture entitled Application of Remote Sensing in Water Conservancy. Guo Guangmeng, Deputy Dean of the School of Environmental Science and Tourism, presided over the symposium, at which over two hundred teachers and students of the School were present.

Professor Hu has been acknowledged as the authority in the field of Geographic Information System and interdisciplinary research. At the symposium, he made in-depth analysis of the frontier and focus on the research in intersection between water conservancy and remote sensing with illustration of forecasting, real-time monitoring and loss evaluation of flood disaster in real case, which provided inspiration to participants on the scene.
