On the morning of May 17, the opening ceremony and academic symposium of Nanyang Normal University’s first Graduate Academic and Cultural Festival were held in the lecture hall on the first floor of the Western Campus Library. The event was hosted by the Graduate Studies Office. Vice President Xie Haiquan attended the opening ceremony, along with staff from the Graduate Studies Office and over 200 faculty and student representatives from various schools.

Vice President Xie Haiquan declared the festival open and delivered a speech. He emphasized that the university’s graduate education has entered a new phase of high-quality development, with academic culture serving as its deepest intellectual foundation. He expressed hope that the festival would serve as a platform to gather wisdom, inspire ideas, foster consensus, and further ignite the academic enthusiasm and innovative potential of graduate students.

Wang Zhiguo, Director of the Journal Editorial Office, gave a lecture titled “Thesis Writing and Submission”, detailing editorial workflows and key considerations for manuscript submission while encouraging participants to think critically and write prolifically. Zhang Miao, Vice Director of the Office of Science and Technology, delivered a talk on “Research Integrity and Academic Norms”, explaining academic misconduct in paper writing and publication and stressing the significance of research ethics. Additionally, four faculty members—Shen Honghao, Zhang Hengjie, Wu Zhengxiang, and Wang Shen—reviewed 26 submitted academic papers.

Themed “New Scholars, New Heights: Striving for Academic Excellence”, the festival featured diverse activities, including academic lectures, paper reviews, research ethics education, and interactive discussions. Designed as a comprehensive platform for idea exchange, research presentation, and skill enhancement, the event aimed to further advance the high-quality development of graduate education at the university.
