In order to actively respond to the strategic plan of “Telling Chinese Stories Well and Spreading Chinese Voices Well” in the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and to enhance foreign teachers’ understanding and recognition of Chinese culture, the International Office organized foreign teachers to carry out the “Walking Henan” cultural research activity in Sheqi County on November 18.

In the “China’s First Guild Hall”----Sheqi Shanshan Guild Hall, foreign teachers were attracted by the exquisite architectural decoration art and rich commercial and cultural connotations of the guild hall, and were amazed by the magnificent and exquisite palace-style buildings and various exquisite and lifelike landscape pavilions, figures, birds and animals in the hall.

In the Shedian Winery, foreign teachers watched the whole process from raw material collection to fermentation and storage at close range, and understood the meaning of great craftsmen’s excellence. In the Cave Wine Storage, the foreign teachers were amazed by the rows of jars of vintage wine, moved by the inherent quality of the credit shop wine, shocked by the accumulation of Chinese traditional wine-making techniques and thousands of years of wine-making history, and praised the level of China’s modern industrial development and the concept of building a harmonious ecological environment in China. Jeffrey, an American teacher, said, “Through today’s activities, I have got a deeper understanding of Chinese wine culture and gained a lot of knowledge of wine culture. I will come again later and introduce this place to more foreign friends.”

After the activity, foreign teachers expressed their expectation to carry out more cultural experience activities to deepen their understanding of Chinese culture, and then to perceive Nanyang and understand China.
