Recently, the latest data from the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database by Clarivate shows that the discipline of Botany and Zoology at our university has entered the top 1% in the global ESI rankings for the first time. This makes it the fourth discipline at our university to achieve this status, following Chemistry, Materials Science, and Engineering, marking a new breakthrough in the university’s discipline development.
In recent years, guided by the continuous consolidation of its status as a key cultivation unit for doctoral degree conferral in Henan Province, the university has aimed at addressing major national needs and advancing scientific frontiers. It has consistently adjusted and optimized its disciplinary layout, accelerated interdisciplinary integration, and strengthened the connotative development of its disciplines. Focusing on the School of Life Sciences and the School of Water Resources and Modern Agriculture, the university has established research teams dedicated to key areas, emerging fields, and interdisciplinary domains. By emphasizing fundamental research and driving high-level academic paper output, it has continuously enhanced the core competitiveness and international influence necessary for high-quality development. This lays a solid foundation for building a high-level normal university characterized by a strong pedagogical foundation and distinctive applied features.
