On the afternoon of July 5, at the invitation of the School of Geography and Tourism, Professor Liu Gangjun from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University(RMIT University), Australia, visited our university and delivered an academic lecture titled Geography in the AI-enabled Digital Era: Opportunities, Challenges, and Emerging Trends to faculty and students. The lecture was chaired by Lu Fengxian, Dean of the School of Geography and Tourism, with all faculty members and on-campus graduate students of the school in attendance.

In his report, Professor Liu conducted in-depth discussions on core topics such as Digital Transformation of Traditional Geography, Opportunities and Challenges for Geography in the AI-Enabled Digital Era, and Emerging Trends in Geography in the AI Era. Drawing on his rich research experience, he analyzed the technological breakthroughs in geographic information science empowered by artificial intelligence and looked ahead to new directions for the future development of the discipline. The academic report featured cutting-edge content and abundant case studies, and its insights on the digital transformation of traditional disciplines provided important inspiration for scientific research innovation in related fields at our university.

This lecture has injected new impetus into the discipline construction and practical innovation of geography and geographic information science at NYNU. Going forward, the university will continue to deepen cooperation with internationally renowned universities, promote the improvement of research capabilities, and facilitate professional development and talent cultivation.
