From May 25 to 26, the Student Development Center (Center for Mental Health Education and Counseling), in collaboration with Nanyang Medical College’s Psychological Center, invited Professor Nie Zhenwei from Beijing Normal University to conduct a sandplay therapy training session in Room 319 of the Science and Technology Building for mental health professionals from both institutions. The event was attended by Fan Zhen, Vice Party Secretary and President of Nanyang Medical College, along with the college’s psychological center staff, as well as nearly 40 participants in total from our university—including full-time and part-time counselors, psychological officers from secondary colleges, and staff from the Student Development Center (Center for Mental Health Education and Counseling). The training was hosted by Wang Xiaohong, Vice Director of the Student Development Center.

Professor Nie Zhenwei provided a detailed introduction to the foundational theories and procedures of sandplay therapy, followed by a live demonstration of practical techniques. Participants then engaged in hands-on individual and group sandplay sessions. The training concluded with a final experience-sharing session, during which Professor Nie addressed key challenges and nuances in sandplay therapy.

This professional development initiative aims to enhance the competency of our university’s mental health education team, strengthen the role of college-level psychological counseling stations, and lay a solid foundation for our mental health education initiatives.
