Abstract: The report addresses the integration of corpora with communication research and the advancement of translation studies within the framework of large language models. It analyzes the application of corpus technology in the domain of communication, the construction process involved, and its influence on information dissemination, particularly in the context of cross-cultural communication. It investigates the innovations brought to translation studies by large language models, encompassing the transformation of translation methodologies, practical applications, and prospective developments, in addition to the role and innovative practices of corpora in ensuring translation quality control. It endeavors to explore future integration trends between corpora and large language models, as well as their significant effects on translation practice and education.
Introduction to the speaker: Hu Kaibao, Ph.D., professor, and doctoral supervisor. He currently holds the position of Assistant to the President and Dean of the Corpus Research Institute at Shanghai International Studies University. His primary research focuses are corpus-based translation studies and discourse analysis. He has published about 110 academic papers and authored several books, including Corpus-based Literary Translation Studies, Corpus-based Translation and Interpreting Studies in Chinese Contexts, An Introduction to Corpus-based Critical Translation Studies, An Outline of Corpus-based Critical Translation Studies, and An Introduction to Corpus-based Translation Studies.
