                            Lu Zhiwen and his entourage visited the China-Africa Joint Research Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences.



 

From October 26th to November 1st, at the invitation of the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute, Professor Lu Zhiwen, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, and his delegation went to Kenya for an academic visit.

Lu Zhiwen and his entourage had academic exchanges in Mombasa with James Mwaluma, director of the Ocean, Coastal Systems and Blue Economy Laboratory of the Kenya Institute of Marine and Fisheries, and Dr. Morine Mukami. Lu Zhiwen briefed the Kenyan side on the basic situation of Nanyang Normal University, its characteristics, international cooperation, and achievements in water ecology and water security.

Yao Lunguang, dean of the School of Life Science and Agricultural Engineering, made a report on the research progress of the university in aquaculture, freshwater fish vaccines and antibodies, and ecological treatment of aquaculture sewage. More than 50 staff members from the Kenya Institute of Marine and Fisheries listened to the report and participated in exchanges and discussions.

The two sides reached a cooperation intention on further joint scientific research, international project application and the establishment of a joint laboratory.

Lu Zhiwen and his entourage also visited the sub-bases and laboratories of the institute, and investigated the current situation of Kenyas agriculture, animal husbandry, water conservancy projects, water resources, ecological environment, and biodiversity conservation and utilization, collected relevant information, deepened the countrys further understanding of related industries, and laid the foundation for comprehensive cooperation in the future.

On October 26, Lu Zhiwen and his entourage visited the China-Africa Joint Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences during their scientific research in Nairobi, and visited the central laboratory, the tropical botanical garden and the crop demonstration area. Yu Quan, senior engineer of the center, introduced the history of the centers construction, the research projects in progress, and the achievements and influence of scientific and technological cooperation with African countries.

The two sides reached an intention to introduce the scientific and technological innovation team of edible fungi and seed industry cultivation of Nanyang Normal University to carry out scientific research, technology promotion and achievement transformation in Kenya, laying the foundation for the international promotion of scientific and technological achievements of our university.

It is reported that the Kenya Institute of Marine and Fisheries is a national scientific research institution in Kenya that conducts marine and freshwater fisheries, aquaculture, environmental and ecological research, as well as marine research, including chemical and physical oceanography, providing scientific data and information for the sustainable development, management and protection of Kenyas fisheries and other aquatic resources, and making outstanding contributions to Kenyas food security, poverty alleviation, clean environment and job creation.
